Magic Phonic Application

For this activity you will need: a witch’s hat, a wand, a cloth, and some objects to display on the table, whiteboards and pens

On a table top, arrange five objects that are easy to spell. For example, you can use objects like a pen, a toy cat, a toy bat, a ball- things that are easily identifiable and have easy and familiar spellings.

The teacher, dressed as a witch, asks the class to close their eyes. Choose an object to take away from the table top and hide it under the magic cloth. Wave your wand and ask the children to open their eyes. They must now work out which object is missing and successfully spell the word on their whiteboards, showing their answers to the rest of the class.
