Gary Yung graduated from a doctoral degree program in Zhejiang University studying comparative education. He also holds an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from UBC, Canada; an M.S. in educational psychology from California State University, USA. He has established a number of international kindergartens in Hangzhou, Zhejiang and Chengdu, Sichuan. He introduced Jolly Phonics to a number of kindergartens in Hong Kong with impressive results. He sees the need for a quality phonics curriculum to bring to China to help improve English language education in the country. He provides Jolly Phonics teacher training to teachers and parents in the region while working as an education consultant in China in present.
David Calia is an American teacher whose teaching in China first started at a large international school. From there he has moved to a local Chinese Kindergarten and to supporting training centers, using Jolly Phonics in each of these. David has seen the success of this teaching and the confidence of the children in being able to read. He is excited at being able to train teachers to achieve in this way.

Yuan is an experienced children’s English and Music teacher since 2004. She is a native Chinese and is commonly known as Lydia-her English name. She was introduced to Jolly Phonics in 2009 while working in an international school. She has since founded her own language school in the south of China and she has experienced amazing results in her students as well as the English teachers that she works with. Lydia is eager to help increase awareness of Phonics in China and help provide high quality English phonics teaching and learning for parents, teachers and students.
Jolly Phonics Training at QSI InternationalSchool Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, China was a resounding success! 7 teachers from the school were in attendance of the one day training workshop on Tuesday September 4th, 2012. David Calia, The Jolly Phonics Trainer in Guangdong Province, presented information surrounding the five basic skills along with helpful teacher activities and an overview of Jolly materials and resources. The teachers and administration were excited and felt confident to begin using Jolly Phonics in their classes and in their school! We’re all looking forward to working with Jolly Grammar.
On October 29th, 2013 David Calia and Lydia Lin had successfully conducted two training and informative events on Jolly Phonics to two organizations in Guangzhou, South China.
The events were attended by head teachers of each of the Shunde and Foshan primary schools in Guangzhou, and Graduate students at the The South China Normal University. The excitement of all the teachers and administration was welcoming as a year long trial in six primary schools will proceed. Additionally, Framework of a research study regarding the trial is being considered.

On November 18th, 2013 Lydia Lin and David Calia had given training on Jolly Phonics scheme to a group of primary school teachers in Qingdao, Chenyang, Shandong Province, China. Lydia and David were invited by the education department and were glad to support them in the way of introducing Jolly Phonics and Grammar to schools.
